New Courtesy Pay Regulations

Print

Due to new regulations, you must now tell us if you want to continue having Courtesy Pay overdraft coverage for one-time debit card and ATM transactions covered by your checking account. You must let us know prior to August 15, 2010 to continue uninterrupted Courtesy Pay overdraft coverage.

There are three ways to let us know you want to keep your debit card overdraft privilege:

  1. By completing and returning to us (in-person or by mail or fax to (650) 508-7265) the form you may have received in the mail or with a past statement.
  2. Through Account Manager online banking on the Summary of Balances page.
  3. By calling (800) 632-4600, option 4.

We understand these changes can be confusing — if you have any questions, please contact our Call Center at (800) 632-4600 or visit a Provident community branch.

  • Beginning August 15, 2010 we will not authorize or pay one-time debit card or ATM transactions that will result in an overdraft of your checking account without your consent.
  • Overdrafts occur when you process a transaction on your account and there are insufficient funds to pay the transaction in full.
  • You may elect to have other accounts as overdraft sources* for your Provident Checking accounts.
  • When your overdraft sources do not cover the transaction or are not available, the Courtesy Pay service pays the transaction. A $23 fee is assessed each time you use Courtesy Pay.
  • If your account is drawn negative you are responsible to bring it to a positive balance.
  • Recurring debit card, check, and ACH transactions may continue to be paid even if you do not elect to continue your Courtesy Pay coverage for one-time debit and ATM transactions.
